If you intend to work in Germany you have to apply for a visa and work permit before entering Germany. There are different legal options to issue a work permit depending on the intended work place, salary and qualifications. Please check if the following conditions apply in your case. If not, please check further information available on our website.
As a skilled worker with a university degree recognised in Germany, you can apply for an EU Blue Card if the intended employment matches your professional qualifications and if your yearly salary will be 45,300 € or more. You are also eligible for a Blue Card EU, if your yearly income is 41,041.80 € or more and you intend to work as scientist, mathematician, engineer, doctor or IT specialist (STEM occupations), if you acquired the diploma in the past three years or if you intend to work as an IT specialist based on previous employments in the IT sector. If you are eligible for a Blue Card, please prepare your visa application according to the following instructions.
Depending on your salary, the work permit will be issued with or without the consent of the agency of labour. This will influence the processing time of your application: It might take some working days or several weeks. A visa application can be submitted up to three months in advance before entering Germany. The embassy highly recommends applying as early as possible to avoid any delays.
If you already hold a Blue Card EU that has been issued by Lithuanian authorities at least 12 months ago, you can apply for a German Blue Card EU directly at the aliens’ authority at your place of residence in Germany within one month after entering Germany according to Art. 39 sent. 1 no. 7 German Ordinance Govering Residence. The embassy recommends contacting the competent aliens’ authority for further information prior to your entry into Germany.
The recognition of your foreign university degree is mandatory if you intend to apply for a Blue Card based on a foreign diploma. This can be checked in the database ANABIN (www.anabin.kmk.org ). The university as well as degree itself have to be listed in the database. If none of your degrees is recognized in Germany, you have to apply for a single comparability statement before submitting your visa application. Further information can be found on the website www.anabin.kmk.org .
An appointment can only be booked online. The visa fee is 75€ and can be paid in cash or by credit card.
